I love this place! There's so much to do...
- Place to Eat: Sitar
This is near the Covent Garden neighborhood. Great Indian food, great service,
friendly, not rushed. My faith in India belonging to the Commonwealth was
restored after having competent-yet-boring Indian food in other towns.
- Thing to Do: London Walks
We've done quite a few of these. A very knowledgeable local tour guide takes
you on a guided, themed tour. All were fabulous -- you get a two-hour walking
tour for ~$7.50 US. They also arrange longer excursions.
- Place to Stay: Aster House Hotel
What a relief to stay here after rush hour on the Tube with luggage! Less than
1/4 mile out of the station was our fabulous South Kensington hotel. lots of
amenities nearby (grocery, pharmacy, post office, restaurants) yet down a quiet
street. No elevators, but part of the charm. Lovely greenhouse setting for
the fabulous daily breakfast.
- Overrated: Changing of the Guard
Yeah, nice to see the pomp and circumstance surrounding the whole thing, but
too crowded to really see what's going on.
