Nice place to visit, woukld never want to live there. And so it remains, for
me.
- Place to Eat/Drink: Brickskeller
This bar, near Dupont Circle, doesn't serve fancy food. The fun part is the
beer list! Beers from over 100 countries, as I recall. We sampled a few...
and I remember becoming a fan of some Czech beer with something about a "lion"
in its name. What a fun experience!
- Museum to Visit: American History Museum
This place has it all! From a turn-of-the-century ice cream parlor, to relics
of pop culture, to interactive exhibits about the Presidency -- this is a fun
museum!
- Exhibit to See: geology/minerals/jewels, Natural History Museum
OK, so I'm a chemist, and I'm fascinated by which types of minerals color
different gems. But they're gorgeous to look at. The Hope Diamond is a bit
overrated, tho.
- Building to Relax In: East Wing, National Gallery
This I.M. Pei is one of my favorite buildings in the whole world, especially
the interior. Clean lines, subtle marble, lots of open space, high ceilings.
One of my favorite architects also loves this building, I found out!
- Place to Eat: Cha Cha's, Crystal City/Arlington, VA
Grab the Metro down to the Crystal City station, walk a few blocks, and you're
at this wonderful hole in the wall! Italian food from true Italians. The
outward appearance isn't too fancy, but you'll find a traditional Italian
ambiance inside...
